Money is available to Auchencairn groups from several funds. Deadlines come round quietly and applications are often missed simply because nobody was watching, so this page gathers them in one place.
Community benefit funds
Windfarm operators pay an annual community benefit for the lifetime of a development. These are substantial, long-running funds — one Solway-area fund alone runs to around £1.5 million over its life — and they exist specifically to be spent on things like ours.
To be added: which funds cover Auchencairn, what each will and will not pay for, the deadlines, and who administers them. This needs checking with Dumfries and Galloway Council and the fund administrators rather than guessed at.
Other sources
- Community Choices / participatory budgeting — where residents vote directly on how a pot is spent.
- Dumfries and Galloway Council grant schemes.
- National lottery and trust funding for community projects.
- Supermarket and business community grants, which are small but quick.
To be added: live links and current deadlines for each.
What we have been awarded
Publishing what the village has received, and what it was spent on, makes the next application easier and keeps the council accountable for money it handles.
To be added: a record of awards received and how they were spent.
Thinking of applying?
Most funders want evidence that a project reflects what the community actually wants. The Local Place Plan is exactly that evidence, and citing it strengthens an application considerably.
The community council can often support an application or act as the accountable body. Get in touch before the deadline rather than on it.
