Dog fouling in the village

The Community Council has had complaints about dog fouling. It is an offence carrying an £80 fine, and a cause of toxocariasis in children. Report it to the Community Safety Team on 03033 333000. Free bags are available at Castle Douglas and Kirkcudbright libraries.

Accessibility statement

Draft — not yet approved. This statement must be reviewed and signed off by the community council, and every square-bracketed detail below filled in, before the site goes live. A statement that overstates compliance is worse than none.

This statement applies to the Auchencairn Community Council website at auchencairnmatters.org.

This website is run by Auchencairn Community Council. We want as many people as possible to be able to use it. That means you should be able to:

  • change colours, contrast levels and fonts using your browser or device settings
  • zoom in to 300% without text spilling off the screen
  • navigate the whole website using just a keyboard
  • navigate the whole website using speech recognition software
  • listen to the website using a screen reader

We have also tried to make the website’s text as simple as possible to understand.

AbilityNet has advice on making your device easier to use if you have a disability.

How accessible this website is

This website is still being built. We are designing it to meet accessibility standards as each part is made, rather than checking at the end.

We know that these parts are not yet fully accessible:

  • Some sections are placeholders and do not yet contain their final content.
  • Documents published as PDFs may not all be tagged for screen readers. Where a PDF is not accessible we aim to publish an HTML version alongside it.
  • [Any other known problems — to be completed after the full audit.]

If you need information on this website in a different format such as accessible PDF, large print, easy read, audio recording or braille, contact us:
