Dog fouling in the village

The Community Council has had complaints about dog fouling. It is an offence carrying an £80 fine, and a cause of toxocariasis in children. Report it to the Community Safety Team on 03033 333000. Free bags are available at Castle Douglas and Kirkcudbright libraries.

Getting around

Auchencairn is on the A711 between Dalbeattie and Kirkcudbright. For anyone without a car, the bus is the link to shops, appointments and connections — so this page tries to keep the practical details in one place.

Buses

To be added: the routes serving the village, current timetables, and where the stops are. Timetables change often, so this page should link to the operator’s live timetable rather than repeat it.

In the meantime, Traveline Scotland has live timetables and journey planning for every bus in Scotland: travelinescotland.com.

Community transport

To be added: details of any dial-a-ride, community car scheme or volunteer driver arrangements covering the village.

Lift sharing

Auchencairn Climate Transition runs a lift-share group for the village. See Community Groups.

Parking and roads

To be added: anything residents need to know about parking, road works or seasonal closures.
