The council’s role in planning
Auchencairn Community Council is a statutory consultee on planning. Dumfries and Galloway Council must notify us of applications in our area, and we are recognised as a competent body to make representations about them.
That means we see applications before they are decided, and we can pass on what the community thinks. We are consulted — we do not decide. The decision rests with Dumfries and Galloway Council as planning authority.
How to comment on an application
Anyone can comment on a planning application directly, and comments from residents carry weight in their own right. You do not have to go through the community council.
- Search for the application on the Dumfries and Galloway Council planning portal. [Link to be added]
- Comments must usually be made within 21 days of the application being advertised. [To confirm for D&G]
- Tell us as well, at the contact address, if you would like the community council to consider it at a meeting.
What we have responded to
Responses the community council has submitted are published here.
To be added: a live list of current applications with their comment deadlines. Until that is built, applications are discussed at meetings — see the agendas and minutes.
